INQUISITIVE
What is ‘Inquiry’?
Inquiry is a way of teaching that challenges students to be responsible for their own learning. Students formulate ‘Wonders’ of the world around them, and then, through a series of self-guided investigations, experiments and research, work to answer these ‘Wonders’.
According to the Grade 1/2 Class, ‘Inquiry’ means:
“It’s something you need to know and so you try and figure it out.” – Jayronn (Grade 1)
“You figure out stuff.” – Jase (Grade 1)
“It’s stuff you experiment about to try and figure out the answer.” – Kai (Grade 2)
“When you have a really big ‘Wonder’, you try to solve it.” – Mckinnley (Grade 2)
“It’s when we learn things about things we don’t know.” – Hailey (Grade 2)
“ It’s when you wonder about something.” – Kallen (Grade 1)
“You look at what you’re doing so that you know what you’re doing.” – Evelyn (Grade 1)
“Inquiry is questions about something that you want to figure out by investigation.” – Jill (Grade 2)
“It’s when you learn about things that you don’t even know about.” – Kale (Grade 2)
