Snowflake vs. Hail Experiment

Hmmmmmm.....which falls faster???? Snowflakes or hail? The Kindergarten class wanted to know. So, it was time for an investigation. We decided that there were two types of frozen water that fall from the sky, snow and hail. After taking magnifying glasses outside and looking at snow and ice, the students had a more clear idea of the difference between snowflakes and hail. From our loft, we dropped snowflakes that we had made and crumpled up a piece of paper as hail. The students found that hail fell faster each time. They concluded that hail falls faster because it doesn't have any holes and it is more solid than snowflakes.
